Who Can Donate Blood & Platelets?

Official safety standards from the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and DGHS for voluntary whole blood and Single Donor Platelet (SDP) apheresis.

Age: 18 – 65 Years

Donors should be between 18 and 65 years old and feeling healthy on the day of donation.

Weight: 45 kg (50 kg for SDP)

Minimum 45 kg for whole blood donation and 50 kg for Single Donor Platelet (SDP) apheresis.

Smart Recovery Cooldowns

90 days (3 months) for whole blood. Platelet (SDP) donors can safely donate every 48 hours to 2 weeks (up to 24 times/year).

Hb > 12.5 & Platelets > 1.5L

Hemoglobin > 12.5 g/dL. For platelet donation, pre-donation platelet count of > 150,000/µL is confirmed.

Hospital Blood Bank Testing

Every blood and platelet unit is tested and cross-matched by certified hospital blood banks before transfusion.
